Last night....

I thought I could do some work on the computer after Ashley has gone to bed.

I turned on the aircond in the room eventhough it was not very warm last night so that I could work in cool environment.

I even took a 10-minute nap when I put Ashley to bed so that I can stay fresh to do my work.

So, after I woke up, I switched on the laptop. Guess what? The internet connection was DOWN!!! *Speechless*

Just Like Mommy

We got Ashley a set of table and chair last year but she seldom use it though. However, she likes to imitate me when I'm at the computer. Sometimes when Ashley sees me sitting in front of my computer, she would do this.

She would lift up the cover and say, "Ashley working" while moving her fingers. Just like me when I'm typing on my laptop :D Then this cheeky monkey would do this too. She said she's tired *slaps forehead*.

Went to the Aussino Warehouse Sale yesterday :D Yup, you heard right - Aussino WAREHOUSE SALE!!! Saw the ad in the papers yesterday and you know, a bedsheet crazy person like me won't be able to control myself. Hubs and I went there around noon yesterday. The price of the bedsheets are not bad actually. The NOW range is between rm25 to rm35 and the Inspire range is between rm30 to rm45, i think. There are many designs available and also their quilt cover sets are very good buy. I saw many people carrying the quilt covers out of the warehouse. I didn't get any though cos I don't use them :D

Back From The Land of Pomeloes

We're home after spending a few days in Ipoh. Boy, it was good to go to Ipoh during non festive season because we didn't have to queue for food at the coffeeshops, there are less cars on the roads and etc. We managed to do a few things while we were there this time, unlike during the CNY, we had to rush like crazy. Besides going to Sam Poh Tong for 'Qing Ming', my hubby and I ate a lot during these few days. We so miss the food in Ipoh :D I am really happy that I get to eat this :-

Also dropped by the Funny Mountain stall which is famous for soya bean. My hubby and I used stop by this stall after school for some smooth tau fu fa or ice soya bean with grass jelly :D So you see, this stall has been around for many many years.

Heading Back To Ipoh

We are going back to Ipoh tomorrow for Qing Ming Festival (All Souls' Day) and will be back on Friday. This time we'll be staying at my aunt's house. I'll be bringing my lappie and modem back to Ipoh but I'm not sure if I can get Maxis coverage there. If there is no internet connection, I won't be able to blog or blog-hop. There Goes Our Lamp

About 4 hours ago, there were lightning and thunder at our place. Surprisingly there was no rain at all. Suddenly, I saw a flash and heard a loud snap, followed by the sound of breaking glass at the porch. I went to the door and saw shattered glass on the floor. Sigh...the cover of my ceiling mounted lamp has dropped to the floor. Maybe my husband did not screw it back tightly when he changed the light bulb last week. Well, time to check out some lighting stores again.

The Man's Room

The aircond guy is here fixing the aircond in hubby's room aka his office downstairs. He spends a lot of time in that room, playing games on his computer and surfing the internet. With just the fan, he complains that it's too warm in the room :D I guess with the aircond fixed, he will be spending more time inside his room and only comes out during dinner time. I am sure he would also want to add a tv in there, a fridge to store his beers as well as a beer pong table. Men!!!

Dinner At The Gardens

We went to The Gardens, Mid Valley yesterday and since I have heard so much about the Gurney Drive Food Court, we decided to go there and have a peek. I always thought that the place looks like a food court but I was wrong. It looks more like restaurant :D Then my husband suggested that we all have early dinner there, eventhough I was not very keen as I heard that the food is quite expensive there. Well, since the man suggested that we try it out, so I gave in lah....got to give and take sometimes...hahahahahahahaha. Here are what we ordered (please excuse the blur image. So, how was the food? The satay and Lor Bak were pretty tasty. I like the ice-kacang too. I think I won't be returning to this restaurant unless I am craving for the ice-kacang ;) Still prefer the food at Little Penang Cafe at the old wing.

A Holiday In San Diego

My hubby's cousin and her family moved to San Diego few years ago. Recently they came back for a vacation and told us about how wonderful the city which they call home is. Spooky Encounter

When I was blog-hopping last night, I read about this mommy's spooky story. It's very interesting and gave me goosebumps when I was reading it. I too have a spooky encounter to share. Like mamapumpkin, my husband and I believe in feng shui. Before we moved into our house this year, we got our feng shui master to come and have a look around. Everything is fine except the position of our stove. Luckily the renovation work has not started in the kitchen so we managed to change it. Then my husband wanted to have his ancestors' altar in the house so we got the feng shui master to do the necessary.

On the day that we moved into the house, the feng shui master came with the altar and performed some prayers. After 15 minutes, he stopped while his assistant went out to the porch to burn some praying paraphernalia. Then he pulled my husband aside and asked him if he knows or remembers a middle-aged woman who wears a floral top. My husband was shocked and needless to say, I freaked out. The feng shui master said he could see her immediately after he placed the tablet onto the altar. No wonder I saw him acting rather funny after he performed the prayers. He was looking around the house and looking at us a lot. After seeing how frightened I was, he told me to calm down and explained that this spirit is my husband's ancestor. Thank God!!! I thought it was a spirit who has been staying in the house before we moved in.

The feng shui master said most probably no one had been visiting / praying to her all these while and so when there is a new place for her to go to, she'll come right away. Spoooooky!!!!! My husband thinks it's his grandmother whom he has never met and she passed away in her 40's. The last time he visited her grave was when he was a kid. The feng shui master said that the ancestors are here to look after us and asked me not to be afraid. But still, how can one not be afraid, you tell me? Arrrrrggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

My Sister Went To Bangkok

and all I got was a pair of Birks :D My sis and her hubby went to Bangkok for a holiday a few days ago. They just came back yesterday and my sis brought the gifts over to our house today. She got Ashley a cute tee, some snacks for my hubby and a pair of Birkenstocks for me. I love the vibrant colours. So Spring/Summer looking, don't you think so? They are also very comfortable. Pedal Pedal

These days, I go for my jog/walk every morning and evening around my neighbourhood. Yesterday, I have decided to do something different. Instead of jogging or walking, I went cycling. Let's see when was the last time I did that......hmmm...5 years ago. Yup....yesterday was the first time I cycle after a 5 year gap. So how was it? A little wuzzy and freaking painful!!!! It took me a couple of minutes to get accustomed to cycling and I was like kelam-kabut trying to manoeuver the handlebar. My thighs were throbbing after I pushed myself up a slope. It's really a good exercise but now my knees hurt, my calves hurt and also my derriere from the sitting on the hard bicycle seat :(

Reminds Me Of My Childhood

I was surfing the internet this morning and suddenly I heard this sound, "toot toot toot toot". I went to the door to see where the sound came from. I saw an Indian man sounding the little horn on his biycle and he was selling 'putu mayam' (a sweet dish of rice noodles with coconut and sugar). I called out to him (more like yelling "Oi Oi") and bought some :D Eating this reminds me of my younger days in Ipoh. My mum used to buy putu mayam for my sisters and I for breakfast from an old Indian man who cycled around our neighbourhood. Back then he only had white sugar and coconut and it cost 50 cents per packet. The ones I bought today come with brown sugar and cost RM2.40 for 5 pieces. Simply da best! I better jog a few more rounds later ;)

So Did I Buy Anything?

We went to the Mothercare store at The Curve on Saturday :) I got butterflies when I saw the huge SALE signs outside the store. Ashley was fast asleep in the stroller and in the care of my mum so I was happily browsing the store on my own. There were clothes at 50% off but I find them kinda thick for our weather. Guess they are clearing the fall/winter collection. Then I spotted this :-

I saw this pair of cute sneakers a few months ago but didn't get them because they were above RM100. This time, they were in the discount bin and luckily the sizes available are large ones like size 9, 10 & 12. I got a 10 for Ashley. Guess how much they cost now? RM78 and a further 50% off *jumping for joy* You know me, I just love a good bargain :D So, whaddaya think? Nice? Oh, that's the only thing I bought from Mothercare that day ;)

Bumped Into A Friend, Oh No :(

When we were at the mall yesterday, I bumped into a former schoolmate. We haven't seen each other for over 2 years now. I always dread seeing this friend of mine because she loves to inspect a person from head to toe and then make comments on the hair, face, figure, dressing, etc. Yes, she is that kind of a person. So, when she saw me, I knew what her questions would be. She asked me when I started having my hair permed. When I told her it has been a while since I have decided to keep my hair curly, she kept quiet. This is a good thing because I wasn't in the mood to listen to what she has to say. Then she quickly asked me if I noticed that she has cut her hair short. She is now sporting a bob. Before I could answer her, she asked if she look good compared to her previous long hair :( I told her she looks better now (which is the truth) and even younger :) Needless to say, Ms. Vain was beaming like the Cheshire Cat.

Then she started to tell me that she is tired and she hurt her back, yadda yadda yadda. All this time, she was staring intently at me. You know, like she's studying my face. I was thinking, oh no, please don't say anything about my face. Not that I have suddenly grown a patch of hair but I didn't want to hear anymore about how I look or how she looks. There is more to life than this, ok? Thank God she didn't say anything. She's probably waiting for me to comment on how lovely she looks *gulp* Honestly, she looked haggard and her face is full of acne. I think she should go for a colon cleanse to eliminate toxins :D I didn't say anything to her though. Why should I eh? I couldn't wait to walk away and for the first time, I'm glad that Ashley was getting restless. I quickly said goodbye and left :D

Pasar Malam (Part Dua)

After writing the earlier post yesterday, we went to the pasar malam. So did Ashley behave herself? Well, she didn't elbow anyone. However..................she tried to pinch a lady *slaps forehead* I really don't know what to do with this rascal. I was very stern with her after that and told her (in my monster voice) that I would smack if she does that one more time. So after that, she behaved well. Even stopped to dance when we came to a stall selling CDs :D Kids....they drive you crazy and yet make you smile at the same time. When we got back to the house, I developed a headache because of the smell of stinky tofu in the air. The smell was really bad last night. I kept rubbing minyak angin on my forehead and nose. Even closing the door and windows didn't help. I think if I were pregnant, I would have wrapped my hands around the toilet bowl and puked all night :( Hopefully next Thurday the smell won't be so strong.

The Man And His Gadget

I really don't understand why my husband is so into gadgets. Remember I wrote a post about him getting a portable GPS system and used it to guide us to a friend's house? Well, ever since that day, he has only used it like 5 times. A few days ago, he told me that he is planning to get a portable friction mount to hold the GPS unit in place. He is also thinking of getting a leather carry case to protect his beloved toy. I am sure there are plenty of accessories which my husband cannot wait to get his hands on. There is just no stopping a gadget loving man.

Irritating Emails

I've been getting lots of spam emails in my gmail account. There are like over 20 of them every day. Drive me nuts!!!! These emails go straight to my spam folders but I dislike seeing them there. I don't like to see the number of emails increasing in that folder and I have to keep deleting them. I get stuff like "I wanted to get rid of a headache", "Add some excitement in your life", Solutions to your most intimate problem" and etc. You know what are those for, don't you? I really feel like sending them an email that I DON'T NEED any of those!!! I don't have any problems!!! Just leave my mailbox alone. What's stopping me is that I don't want them to get the feeling that I actually open their emails and read them. Hence, they may even send more to me :(

Going To Pasar Malam

Every Thursday is the Pasar Malam night in my area. We would always check it out if the weather permits. It's very convenient for us as the stalls are located within walking distance from our house. As I'm typing this now, I could smell the stinky tofu in the air. Blek!!!!! This is the stinkiest smell ever and it's giving me a headache now.

Ok, the reason I'm writing this is because of Ashley. During the past couple of times when I took her to the pasar malam, I noticed that some people would turn and look at us. I was indeed puzzled by this. Then last week, I found out the reason. My little rascal was elbowing people when they walked past us, especially when we come to a very crowded spot. *shake head* My mum was walking behind us and she saw the rascal in action. Of course I scolded her immediately and even threatened her. However, it's a case of one ear in and one ear out for her. In less than 5 minutes, she tried to kick a guy in front of us :( I really don't know why she behaves like this. We are going to the pasar malam again later. Let's see what she's gonna do this time.

Nasi Lemak & Celebrity

We went out for dinner just now at a new nasi lemak place in our area. It's called Jacky's Nasi Lemak. The food was really good. Their curry chicken and rendang beef are really out of this world. According to the owner who is from Malacca, his mom used to own a restaurant in Melaka selling nasi lemak. I didn't have my camera with me so I couldn't snap any pics of the mouth-watering dishes. While waiting for our food to arrive, this guy walked in.

You know him? He was dressed casually and came with a friend. No one in the restaurant recognises him cos most of the patrons were Chinese and most probably not a fan of his ;) If not, we'll hear females screaming and throwing themselves at him :D I told my hubby who he was and he just gave me this 'so, what about him' look. :( Wonder if he is still very famous.

Is There Something Wrong?

Looks normal eh? I have this fan in the bedroom and Ashley is so terrified of it. Oh, I forgot to mention, she's only afraid of this fan at night, when the room lights are off. When I switch it on, she would start crying and ask me to 'off the fan'. However, she's ok with it during the day. Maybe it's the shadow or the sound coming from the fan. I really have no idea. I've tried explaining it to her but to no avail. Now, we can no longer switch it on at night. I have to use a stand fan instead. *faint*

Society Without State

Our country has just gone through a general election over the weekend. This time around, the ruling coalition won by a minor majority. This was its worst performance ever in the country's 50 years of independence. They lost control of 4 states to the opposition parties this time. This means, our country will be run by a new coalition government which consists of the opposition parties. I certainly hope to see a better country in the near future. More Visitors

On Saturday, Chin Nee and Chanel paid us a visit. It was my first time meeting Chanel and her family. Jeriel is such a handsome little boy and a shy one too :D I'm so glad to see them, especially Chin Nee as I haven't met her since she became pregnant with her twins :D She looks fabulous and not as what she always described herself. Ashley was happy to play with Qi Qi but it was a bit strange that she didn't approach Jeriel. When I asked her to talk to Jeriel, she clinged to me. Maybe she's shy? *lol*

Anyway, Chin Nee brought some mini coconut tarts which are my favourite (what's not my favourite eh?). I must say, they are the best that I have eaten so far. They were so soft and as I'm typing this post, I feel running to the fridge to eat the remaining ones. Yes, I still haven't ate them all yet. Save the best for last ;)

Subtitle Service

I have a habit of reading the subtitles whenever I watch any Chinese movies or dramas, eventhough I understand the Cantonese dialect. I guess it is because I grew up watching Taiwanese movies being shown on tv every weekend. When I was young, I didn't understand Mandarin and had to rely on the subtitles. I was watching a Chinese drama on the tv earlier today at one of the local tv stations. As usual, the subtitles are in Bahasa Malaysia. I really had a good laugh when I saw some of the words which were directly translated from Cantonese. It just didn't make any sense at all. I guess the tv station should enlist the help of subtitle service company which is good in grammar and translation.

Polling Day

We just got back from casting our votes at a nearby school. All done in less than 30 minutes. Phew!!!! Saw many people at the voting center (school) but Thank God, the room that we were assigned to has less than 10 people :D I really pity some of the senior citizens as most of them were assigned to Room 2 which has the longest queue. It is really tiring for them to stand in line for so long waiting for their turn :( I wonder who is in charge of putting the voters to the respective rooms. A policeman who is guarding another room was seen shaking his head when he saw line to Room 2 getting longer and longer whereas the other rooms have less than 10 voters. Can't wait to see the results tonight!

Election Time

Tomorrow, 8 March 2008 is the THE day. It is Malaysia's 12th General Election. Malaysians who have registered will cast their votes tomorrow. Fish Head Noodles

I finally get to taste the famous fish head noodles at Taman Desa. I remember Laundryamah and Jazzmint blogged about this before and I was so eager to try but didn't have the chance until yesterday. My aunt and uncle came down from Ipoh yesterday and are staying over at my house now. Going Crazy

Ashley is driving me nuts. Sometimes. No, most of of the time. Oh well, 70% of the time.

- She only wants to do her poopie business upstairs
- She wants to watch Barney, Elmo, Children's Songs DVDs all the time.

- She wants me to play with her all the time.

Initially, she just held on to the cupcake as it was too precious to eat. She even hold it all the way home. Then when she reached home, she licked the icing and refused to eat the rest. Guess who finished it? ;D

Bad Back

I don't know how I manage to strain my lower back but it is hurting now. I started feeling the pain this morning. Even when I jogged today, I could feel the pain. I rubbed some ointment on that area but it is not helping. It hurts as I am typing this as the chair I am sitting on does not have a good back support. I think I should try to sit on the massage chair to get some relieve. Too bad the chair is in the room downstairs. Don't feel like going downstairs now. Maybe tomorrow I should try it out and hope it would reduce the pain on my lower back.

Utterly Boring

Ever since the govt announced the polling date, all I can read are news related to election in the papers every freaking day. Boring! Boring! Boring! I don't like to read about who is campaigning against who, who is not a good candidate, what kind of drinks the politicians are having to keep healthy during this campaign, blah blah blah. Besides this, everywhere we go, we'll see all the campaign banners/flags/posters from different parties. These stuff made the whole city look so unkept. I certainly hope the various parties would get people to remove all these things after the polling date. Just 2 more days to go and we can all go back to reading the usual news. No more faces of politicians going round and round doing their campaign. Boring!

Something For Ashley
